Achivements
  • I was involved in the development of two medium duration rice varieties viz.,Satyaranjan and Basundhara.These varieties were notified by CVRC in 2006 for state of Assam . Besides, I was involved in the development of two boro rice varieties viz., Jyotiprasad and Bishnuprasad which were also notified in 2006. Jalashree aand Jalkuwari, the two submergence tolerant rice varieties were recommended for cultivation in POP meeting in 2009 and notified in March 2017
  • Two semi deep rice varieties viz., Panchanan and Padumoni have been recommended in POP meeting held in 2015. Podumoni is a aromatic selection of a Thailand variety KDML105.


    Two early duration mustard variety viz., PM 25 and PM 26 have been identified and recommended in POP meeting 2015
  • As a project leader of ‘ Provisioning of livelihood security in sand and silt deposited areas of Lakhimpur and Dhemaji district crops like Buckwheat, Niger, Linseed, Gourds,Potato, brinjal and chilli were identified
  • At least 100 elite lines bred elsewhere in eastern India and IRRI were evaluated every year since 2010 under IRRI-ICAR collaborative Eastern India Rainfed Lowland Rice Breeding Network programme. LPR1103 and LPR1130 developed at RARS, North Lakhimpur was found to be promising over locations under this programme.
  • During my tenure as Chief Scientist Rice seed production of the RARS North Lakhimpur farm increased from 107.0 q in 2008-09 to 350.39q in 2015-16 and toria from 2.0q in 2008 -09 to19.0 q in 2015-16. and productivity of rice has improved from 15.44 q/ha in 2008-09 to 35.15q/ha in 2015-16. Productivity of toria also increased from 3.66 q/ha in 2008 -09 to 6.37q/ha in 2015-16
  • I was major advisor for two PhD, five M.sc (Agri) students till now. Two PhD. and two M.Sc. ( Agri) students are pursuing research under my guidance I was Assoc. Dean (i/c) of L.C. V.Sc., North Lakhimpur w.e.f. 02.01.2012 to 28.08.13
