Achivements
- 1. Developed a basket of precision farming technologies pertaining to design & construction of naturally ventilated poly house, protected cultivation, plastic mulching, micro-irrigation and water harvesting & recycling during 1999 to 2006 while serving as Senior Scientist (Horticulture) under the Precision Farming Development Centre, Deptt. of Horticulture, AAU, Jorhat. 2. Established the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) in the Dhubri District of Assam in 2006, served as the administrative head up to 2011 and involved in the technological empowerment of farming community of the district in agri & allied sector through dissemination of information, knowledge & technology using the proven tools of extension. Involved in organizing and mobilizing farmers for mega seed production and action research programmes in farmers’ participatory mode. 3. Represented AAU for placing the demand for establishing a R&D centre for spices in Assam before the visiting High Level Committee constituted by Parliament of India. Developed the DPR for establishing an AICRP (Spices) centre at AAU- HRS, Kahikuchi and submitted to Project Directorate. Subsequently, ICAR had accorded administrative approval for the opening the centre at AAU- HRS, Kahikuchi during 2015-16 which has been functioning successfully till date. 4. Formulated the DPR for establishment of a Regional Council (RC) for offering services toward organic certification under PGS India. The National Centre of Organic Farming, Ghaziabad had accorded due approval and recognized AAU- HRS, Kahikuchi to serve as RC for a period of 3 years (2015-16 to 2017-18). As the Head of RC, offered services in capacity building and certification process for 220 organic clusters promoted by Department of Agriculture, Govt. of Assam under Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY). 5. Played proactive role in mobilizing funds to the tune of INR 387.00 lakh from central sector scheme HMNEH- MIDH & RKVY-RAFTAAR for institution building through setting up infrastructure for Horticulture & Medicinal Plant Nursery, Horticulture Skill Development Centre, Model Floriculture Centre, Plant Health Clinic and Mushroom Spawn Production Unit at AAU- HRS, Kahikuchi during the period 2012-13 to 2021-22. 6. Established the first Biotech Krishi Innovation & Science Application Network (KISAN) Hub at AAU- HRS, Kahikuchi for Eastern Himalayan Agro-climatic Region during 2018-19 with a project outlay of INR 180.94 lakh sponsored by DBT, MST, Govt. of India. Acting as the Principal Investigator of the multi-institutional project, involved in arenas of technological empowerment, agri-business promotion, value chain management and market connect on part of farming community of Assam and Nagaland. 7. Earned a DBT, MST, Govt. of India sponsored multi-institutional project worth INR 75 lakh in 2020-21 for expansion of Biotech KISAN Hub activities to three Aspirational Districts (Udalguri, Goalpara & Dhubri) in Assam aiming at technological empowerment of farming community in horticulture and fishery sector. 8. Earned another two multi-institutional projects from DBT, MST, Govt. of India with the total outlay of INR 111.38 lakh during 2020-21 for GAP based collection, characterization and systematic conservation of Citrus germplasm of Assam in field & cryo gene banks and Establishment of STG derived disease- free elite genetic stocks of Khasi Mandarin and Sweet Orange and mass production of quality planting material for revamping Citrus sector of north eastern states. 9. Has been serving as Expert Member in State Level Executive Committee (SLEC) for planning and execution of action plan under centrally sponsored HMNEH- MIDH scheme; LoI & Nursery Accreditation committee of National Horticulture Board and Advisory Committee of SAMETI & DDK- Prasar Bharati from 2012-13 till date. 10. Acted as the Chairman of the committee constituted and notified by AAU for preparation of DPR for establishment of the College of Horticulture & Farming System Research under AAU at Nalbari and submitted the product during 2020-21. Acted as the Member Secretary in the committee constituted and notified by Agriculture Department, Govt. of Assam for preparation of Draft Agri Export Policy, Assam and submitted the product during 2021-22. 11. Prepared the Strategic Action Plan for implementation of Chief Ministers’ Special Mission on Onion during 2013-14 and Integration of black pepper with Clean & Green Village Programme under Chief Minister’s Samagra Gramya Unnayan Yojana during 2020-21. 12. Bagged Best Centre Award for AAU- HRS, Kahikuchi under ICAR- AICRP (Palm) during 2013-14; Awarded by Lions Club Guwahati Care for Special Support for Village Development Project during 2011-12 & 2012-13.
