Achivements
  • Teaching: •23 (twenty three) numbers of UG and PG courses were taken Five numbers of practical manuals of courses Hort 112, Hort 113, Hort 224,Hort (Hort) 112, Hort 313 (O), ELP Package IV Module 2 and ELP Package IV Module 3 prepared. Guided 11 (eleven) M. Sc (Agri), 3 (three) Ph.D students as Major Adviser and 19 (nineteen) as member of the Advisory Committee. Involved in the development of course curriculum in Horticulture for UG and PG programmes. Member Faculty Evaluation Committee
  • Research: Successfully completed as PI, 1 (one) NATP (CGP) research project entitled ‘Integration of Rain Water Harvesting and Drip Irrigation for Increasing Productivity of High Value Fruit Crops of Assam’ from 2001-2004.. Made taxonomic classification of ‘Bhimkal’ and ‘Athiakal’ and through histological/cytoplasmic studies confirmed the ploidy level of the two cultivars as ‘diploids’ and put forwarded the genomic group as ‘BB’ with somatic chromosome number 2n=22. Prior to the study, the two cultivars were designated as gigantic tetraploid herbs.. Successfully completed ass PI of the NHB project in Horticulture, established an orchard of 1 (one) hectare area of guava and litchi as progeny block for production of quality vegetatively propagated planting materials at KVK, Jorhat. As PI of the DBT Collaborative Project with UAS, Bangalore on A Value Chain of Jackfruit and its Value Added Products completed. As Lead Scientist, Technology Mission project in horticulture involved in production of quality planting materials of fruit crops.. From the DBT Mission project in Horticulture, large scale on farm demonstrations of tissue culture plants of banana cvs. Grand Naine, Malbhog and Amrit Sagar are in progress in different districts of Assam •Presently working as Co PI in the following projects 1. Farmers First Project 2. DBT project on ‘Management of low temperature and soil moisture deficit stresses in banana grown in NE region’ 3. DBT project on ‘Development of seedless Bhimkol through CRISPR/Cas9 and mutation approaches 4. DBT project on ‘Establishment of Biotech-KISAN Hub’
  • Extension: Organised 51 (Fifty one) training programmes in different locations of Assam.. Delivered lectures in 128 (one hundred and twenty eight) numbers of trainings as resource person organized by various organizations.. Participated in 3 (three) TV programmes, 37 (thirty seven) radio talks and 9 (seven) phone in programmes.. 15 (fifteen) training manuals published.. • Conducted 22 (twenty two) demonstrations in different locations of Assam with 88 (eighty eight) beneficiaries. Conducted entrepreneurship programmes for processing of Jackfruit products
  • Institution Building: •As in-charge, Training and Placement Cell from April, 2011 to August, 2018 involved in placement of students in various public, private organizations and as well as in the banking sector. From this cell, organized a course on ‘Personality Development and Spoken English’ for the students, coaching programmes for IBPS, APSC, JRF, ARS/NET and various training programmes for benefit of the students. A Placement week was organized from July 17 to 20, 2013 with 10 numbers of National and multinational companies for campus recruitment of the students. Successfully performed the duties as Member, Working Group, Horticulture Farm, AAU, Jorhat from 2001-2006 and as Incharge, Working Group, Horticulture Farm, AAU, Jorhat from 2006-2007.. As a member of the screening committee for various posts in KVKs, the screening of the applications were done properly. Act as expert member for selection of JRF in the Network project on Coconut, SRF in PFDC scheme and RAs in HMNEH (MM1) project.. Member, Board of Management of AAU..
