About The Department
The Department was created in the year 2014 since the starting of the College of Horticulture and Farming System Research.
Vision
Providing
quality education in plant protection to produce quality human resource to
cater the need of sustainable plant protection specifically in the
horticultural crops in the state in particular and the country in general. To
update the department as knowledge hub on plant protection, supply of
bio-inputs to the farmers and entrepreneurship development through mushroom
cultivation.
Mission
Producing
efficient man power having knowledge in the advances in plant protection
technologies so as to play a major role in the adoption of Integrated Pest
Management in the horticultural crops and also available as resourceful
manpower in implementing different government schemes in the state. Conducting need-based research on plant
protection in horticultural crops.
Objectives
i. To produce
efficient manpower to meet the demand of human resource for implementing
different project by the Govt. of Assam.
ii. To facilitate adoption of various technologies
of integrated pest management for horticultural crops in the state.
iii. To supply
bio-inputs like biopesticides to the growers of the region and mushroom spawn
for doubling farmers income through mushroom farming.
