It was done as per guidance of the KVK. The Luit variety can be harvested before flood. This technology has widely been adopted by farmers not only in Nalbari but farmers of other neighboring districts also.
  • The KVK, Nalbari has been promoting off season cultivation of pumpkin variety Arjuna in the river bank of Pagaldia during July-August continuously for several years from 2011 to reduce cost of irrigation in sand and silt deposited areas and to get the maximum return in November when there is scarcity of vegetables in the market. Now off season cultivation of pumpkin has been established as a profitable business and farmers are growing pumpkin in large scale with a gross return of more than 5 lakh per ha. The technology has already been adopted by farmers of other districts also.
  • Nalbari KVK has been undertaken a collaborative programme with CIFA, Bhubaneswar for seed production of Magur from 2013 with hatchery support from CIFA at free of cost. KVK, Nalbari has been providing technical supports and training in seed production of Magur in Nalbari. Now Nalbari is one of the leading magur seed production district in India and supplying seeds to neighbouring districts and also to the adjoining states of Assam.
  • Under intensive technical guidance and support Nalbari is now surplus in production of fish seed and fishes
  • Area under HYV of rice has been increased significantly due to continuous rice seed production programme undertaken by KVK, Nalbari either in its own fields or in farmers fields I participatory mode which has enhanced the seed replacement rate. Enhanced seed replacement rate leads to increased production of rice. Now Nalbari dist is self sufficient in rice production.
