Human Development and Family Studies
The department of Human Development and Family Studies, one of the major discipline under college of Community Science ,AAU imparts education in diverse areas, including child and adolescent development, adult development and aging, biological and psychological aspects of human development, family studies, interventional and developmental research methods. Equal parts of theory, research and application are embedded in every course of study, balancing classroom exposure and experiences in the real world through research and extension activities.
VISION : Vision of the department of Human Development and Family Studies is to upgrade the department as the centre of excellence in the area of human development. The department will have more branches as department of Early Childhood Care and Education and department of Women and Family Studies to provide opportunities to students to specialize in those areas.
MISSION : The mission of the department of Human Development and Family Studies is to educate and inspire students to improve the lives of children and families by using a holistic approach. The curriculum of the department of Human Development and Family Studies provide a broad general education through various core, multidisciplinary and supporting courses as well as coursework specific to the child and family. This combination of courses assures professional competencies in the fields relating to the welfare of family and community.
