Achivements
  • Research Achievement:

    Completed a DBT Twinning project as Principal Investigator entitled “Refinement of Process Protocol for Preparation of Traditional Fermented Fish Products of Northeast India by using Biotechnological Tools and its Process Mechanization” in collaboration with ICAR-CIPHET, Ludhiana, Punjab during 2018-2021. The followings are the salient achievements under the project:

    A) Microbial diversity and nutritional quality of a popular traditional fermented fish product of North Eastern region of India i.e. Shidal were studied.

    B) A total of 29 numbers of predominant bacterial isolates from the products were deposited in the Gene bank and Accession Numbers were received.

    C)Out of 29 numbers of isolates (both aerobic and anaerobic) from the products, two (2) numbers of isolates were identified as starter culture.
  • Acting as Principal Investigator for a DBT funded Biotechnology Based Aspirational District project entitled “Development of Sustainable Rural Livelihood options through Hygienic Fish Drying Activities by Establishment of Technology Demonstration Centre".

    A)Under this project Four (4) numbers of Technology Demonstration Centre were established at four selected project sites providing all facilities for preparation of Hygienic Dry fish products.

    B) Organized 10 nos. of awareness programmes and 18 nos. of Training and demonstrations on Hygienic preparation of dry fish products using Solar Mechanical Fish Dryer with electrical back up for the first time in Assam.
  • Acting as Co-PI in Institute Research Project of ICAR-CIPHET, Ludhiana, Punjab entitled “Development of mechanized system for deodorization and safe handling of dried fish”.
  • Completed a RKVY funded project as Co-PI entitled "Development of market Driven Value Added Fish Products by establishment of mini fish Processing Plant” implemented at the Department of Fish Processing Technology, College of Fisheries, AAU, Raha.
  • Completed NFDB Funded Project as PI entitled “Livelihood Enhancement of Fisher families through demonstration of fish seed rearing in low cost cages in open water bodies” at Khelma, Gumra, Cachar, Assam in November, 2014.
  • Acted as Member in Advisory committee for 9 nos. of PG students.
  • Achievement in extension activities

    A. Technology Transfer:

    1. Technology on "Preparation of hygienic dry fish products using Solar Mechanical Fish Dryer with electrical back up" was demonstrated for the first time in Assam to the 200 nos. of beneficiaries of four selected project sites from Barpeta district and Baksa district of Assam under DBT funded Aspirational district project.

    2. Conducted 3 nos. of Demonstration on Preparation of hygienic dry fish products using Solar Polythene Tent Dryer at Nagaon and Sonitpur district of Assam.
