The Department of Agricultural Statistics came into existence since the commencement of Sarat Chandra Sinha College of Agriculture(SCSCA) i.e 22nd August, 2014 as a constituent department of the college. The department offers one elective course and three compulsory core courses in UG degree programme. The present faculty strength in the department is 2 (two). The department has a well-equipped laboratory to conduct UG practical classes. Along with teaching the faculty members of the department are also involved in organizing trainings on the use of various software packages for statistical analysis of data. Also the faculties are involved in some extension activities in collaboration with KVKs by putting their effort to encourage the farmers towards the use of ICT tools in their Farming activities .

A National Level Online Training Programme on “Statistical Data Analysis Using
R – Software” was successfully organized by the Department of Agricultural Statistics, SCS
College of Agriculture, Assam Agricultural University,Dhubri,Assam in
collaboration with National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology,
(NIELIT), Jorhat Extension Centre and NAHEP, Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat,
Assam during 4th to 11th
January, 2021. Through this programme a total of 283 participants who were teachers,
scientists and students from different institutions and organizations across
the country were connected virtually and attended the training programme successfully. Eminent Statisticians and
educationists from different universities across North East India graced the programme as resource
persons.
