The Language Lab
The Language Lab at Assam Agricultural University (AAU) provides a computer-assisted language learning facility to cater to the needs of students from the three colleges within the campus. The initiative was undertaken under the Institutional Development Plan, National Agricultural Higher Education Project (IDP, NAHEP) with the objective of strengthening the linguistic, communicative and soft skills of agriculture graduates. It was inaugurated on 2nd April, 2022 by Dr. R.C. Agrawal, Deputy Director General (Education), ICAR, New Delhi. In view of the growing importance of English as a medium of global communication and the consequent emphasis in developing Soft Skills of students, the Lab serves as a platform for developing proficiency in English and enhancing their overall communication competencies.
Inauguration Milestone
Inaugurated on 2nd April, 2022 by Dr. R.C. Agrawal, Deputy Director General (Education), ICAR, New Delhi under the Institutional Development Plan, National Agricultural Higher Education Project (IDP, NAHEP).

The Lab is equipped with 20 nos. of computers driven by Sonaco Software along with necessary peripherals including headphones, microphones, monitoring switches and other supporting equipments. In addition to English language learning, the facility provides software based learning resources for four foreign languages, viz. - French, German, Spanish and Japanese open to all the students of this University. These facilities are available to support the academic, professional and personal development.

The Language Lab also functions as a freebie training centre for aspirants preparing for IELTS examination thereby providing access to structured language learning resources and practice facilities. As part of the university's effort to expand language learning, similar labs were also established in Biswnath College of Agriculture, Biswanath Charali and SCS College of Agriculture, Dhubri.
