Lieutenant General Srinivas Kumar Sinha was an Indian Army General who served as the Vice Chief of Army Staff and Governor of the states of Jammu and Kashmir, and Assam. Born in 1926, Sinha graduated from Patna University in 1943 and joined the Indian Army at 17. He was recognized as the Best Cadet of the Officers' Training School, Belgium, and was involved in combat during the Second World War in Burma and Indonesia. He held various positions in the Army, including Director, Military Intelligence, Adjutant General, and Vice Chief of Army Staff at Army Headquarters. Sinha was associated with Jammu and Kashmir from 1947 and was appointed Secretary of the Indian delegation on the delineation of the Cease Fire Line in Kashmir. He was awarded the Param Vishisht Seva Medal in 1973 and promoted to major-general in December. Sinha sought premature retirement from the Army in 1983, but remained in national focus through lectures and articles.
