AAU-Zonal Research Station, North Lakhimpur
AAU- ZONAL RESEARCH STATION (ZRS), NORTH LAKHIMPUR erstwhile Regional Agricultural Research Station ( RARS) North Lakhimpur is the Zonal Head Quarter of North Bank Plain Zone ( NBPZ) of Assam Agricultural University( AAU) which comprises six districts viz., Darrang, Udalguri, Sonitpur, Biswanath, Lakhimpur and Dhemaji. The station is located at a distance of 5 km east o from the North Lakhimpur town in the Gorumuria village. Endowed with a number of ecologies viz., deep water, semi-deep water, lowland and upland areas, the station is an ideal for rice research particularly for research under stress situations. RARS, North Lakhimpur was established in 1980 but the research activities started from 1983. The station is one of the leading low land rice research stations in eastern India. The station is maintaining 250 germplasms of Deep Water Rice ( DWR) and 153 belongs to sali rice. The station provides advisory services in pest and disease management, student internship, Green auditing, soil testing for agriculture cultivation, produces quality Foundation and certified seeds of paddy and oil seeds .
