    Utilizing beneficial insectivorous bird to control insects and rodents in crop field of Assam by designing T shaped roosting Perch , artificial Nest boxes for Barn owl, Sparrow , reduced significantly insecticide load in crop field.

    Prof. Prabal Saikia is presently working as the Chief Scientist at Zonal Research Station, North Lakhimpur under Assam Agricultural University (AAU) .His wide research experience span over 35 years. His contributions in several areas of biological science particularly Entomology and agricultural Ornithology are well recognized.

    After obtaining his M. Sc (Agri) in Entomology from AAU he joined at Biswanath College of Agriculture, AAU in 1990 in the rank of Asstt. Professor. A Ph. D from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University in the subject of Agricultural Entomology with specialization in Biological control of Insect Pests, Dr. Saikia has been a recipient of the Applied Zoologist Research Association (AZRA) fellowship Award. He had participated International training programme on Participatory approaches in agro biodiversity conservation under Netherlands Fellowship Programme (NFP) of the Netherlands Government offered by Wageningn International, the Netherlands. He had visited three provinces of Vietnam for training cum exposure visit under IRRI-APART in 2023. Dr. Saikia was Honorary Wildlife Warden in the district of Lakhimpur at Department of Forest and Environment, Govt. of Assam, India for two years. Awarded with Assam State Parivesh Mitra Sanman-2023 (Friend of Environment -2023) conferred by Department of Science, Technology & Climate change, Govt. of Assam.

    He has more than 100 plus publications to his credit including 33 research papers, 40 conference papers, 15 book chapters, 8 Research booklets/Technical Bulletin, 2 Monographs, 10 Technical reports, 4 Handbooks , 1 Training Manual and 45 Extension Booklets. He has authored 6 books on Birds, environment and popular science. Dr. Saikia has also contributed more than 200 articles to popular science magazines and Newspapers. He has about 50 Radio & TV Talk to his credit. Dr. Saikia is associated with number of professional societies.
