Achievements
  • Awarded National Tea Research Foundation (NTRF) Fellowship for conducting Ph.D programme. Recepient of DBT Overseas fellowship for pursuing Post Doctoral research on microarray and molecular detection of honey bee diseases and Next generation sequencing at FERA, York, United Kingdom during 2013
  • Have contributed for the development of insect pest resistance varieties of sugarcane viz. Dhansiri, Nambor, Kapilipar and Dayang at Sugarcane Research station, AAU, Buralikson, Golaghat during 1996-2004
  • Standardized the requirement of honey bee colonies for effective pollination , fruit set and yield of Assam Lemon, guava, cucumber, coriander, pigeon pea, ber, mango and mustard during 2004-2021. standardization done on nesting material, viz. bamboo top for rearing of Xylocopa fenestrata. Contributed for the standardization of hive design of both bamboo and wooden materials for rearing stingless bees in Assam.
  • Recipient of Dr. Rajendra Prasad Excellence award, 2020 in 11th International Conference on Agriculture, Horticulture and Plant Sciences, New Delhi awarded by the Society of Tropical Agriculture, New Delhi for the significant contribution in the Agricultural Research, teaching and extension.
  • Have been acting as External expert for selection of professors of Nagaland University since 2016. Also appointed as member of Board of Post Graduate Studies(BPGS) for evaluating Ph. D Research Programme of Nagaland University since 2019 by the Vice Chancellor of Nagaland University.
  • Have been acting as subject Expert of Entomology for the selection of Scientist under ICAR complex for NE region ,Borapani since 2016.Also acting since 2004 as paper setter of UG and PG of Entomological courses of Nagaland University, CAU, Imphal, College of Horticulture and Forestry, Pasighat.
  • Handled 3 adhoc projects as PI and 3 as Co PI, Have been acting as resource person for imparting training on apiculture organized by CAU, Imphal, CAU, Raipur, DEE, AAU, Jorhat, BNCA, AAU, Sonitpur, various colleges of Assam, NGOs, Self help groups since 1996 .
  • Acted as Co-Principal Investigator since 01.01.2004 to 31.3.21 and have been acting as Principal Investigator of All India Coordinated Research Projects on Honey bees and other pollinators since 01.01.04 to till date
  • Designed courses on apiculture for Experiential Learning Programme of under graduate students during 2016. Also designed certificate course on apiculture for students and unemployed youth for the University during 2015.
  • Contributed for writing different Under graduate and Post graduate manual of different courses viz., Ento 213. Ento 312, PP(Ent0) 222, Ento 510, RAWEP manual etc .
  • Published 65 numbers of Research papers in both National and International Research Journal, 50 numbers of Abstracts in different souvenirs of seminar, conference etc., Published 15 numbers of research bulletin on apiculture, 60 popular articles and delivered 65 radio talk, 9 TV programme etc.
  • Contributed in the reporting and identification of six stingless bee species viz. Tetragonula iridipennis, T. caniforns, T. atripes, T. ventralis, T, laeviceps and T. ruficornis, available throughout India by involving as Co-PI of a DBT Project on Morphometry and Phylogeogrphy of Honey Bees and Stingless Bees in India Funded by DBT, Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt o India during 2008-2012
  • Have been acting as Paper Setter, Paper examiner of different courses of entomology of Under Graduate and Post Graduate students of SASRD, Nagaland University, Central Agricultural University, Imphal and College of Horticulture and Forestry, CAU, Arunachal Pradesh wef 2011 to till date .
  • Have been acting as External examiner of comprehensive exam. Thesis viva etc. Also involved in evaluating thesis of both M.Sc and Ph. D students of Nagaland and Central Agricultural University, Imphal. *Appointed as Reviewer of Research Papers of different National and International journals for evaluating research papers online by different scientific bodies of India and abroad.
  • Conferred the Best Research Centre award to our project , All India Coordinated Research Project on Honey bees and pollinators, AAU, Jorhat for two consecutive years i.e 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 by the ICAR, New Delhi in the annual group meeting of AICRP on Honeybees and Pollinators at Dr. Y.S. Parmer University of Horticulture and Forestry, Solan, HP during 2016.
  • Involved in teaching of under graduates and post graduates students w.e.f. 2004, January in the courses viz., Introductory entomology (Ento113), Economic Entomology (Ento. 213), Crop pest and their management (Ento223), Insect Ecology and Taxonomy (Ento313), Insect morphology ( Ento 501), Apiculture (Ento 510), and Insect resistance in crop plants (Ento 514), Integrated Pest management (Ento-506), Insect behaviour (Ento 605), Immature stages of insects (Ento 602) etc.
  • Have been involved in organizing Training for Agri Hort. Officers of NE region (Assam, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya) on Apiculture , sponsored by National Bee Board, SIRD, Assam, APEDA, ICAR, Govt. of India, New Delhi, and have been acting as Co-course Director, Course Director and Resource person in these training since 2008.
  • Have written and published a book on concepts and MCQ on Honey Bees and other Beneficial Insects which is authored by M.K. Deka, Karthik, R. and Rakesh V and Published by Brillion Publishing, New Delhi, It has been compiled keeping in view the requirements and interest of the students, teachers, researchers and all other reader as a whole.
