Achievements
  • Completed NATP (Phase-I) on niche specific agriculture successfully in the Barak Valley Zone of Assam, in 1987-88.
  • Conducted "Technology Assessment and Refinement" Programme (TARP) in Kaliabor sub-division in Nagaon district of Assam, primarily on the 'participatory rural appraisal' tools, based on the knowledge gathered from 12-days ICAR Training in Kalimpong, Dargiling hill district in West Bengal in 1994. Later on it was renamed as Institution-Village Linkage Programme (IVLP), which run for 3 years plus with subsequent economic analyses.
  • Developed one boro rice var. Joymati at RARS, Shillongani in 1996-97. Originally, 20 selected crosses were picked up from the standing crops of F4 generation crosses developed by Dr. T. Ahmed at RARS, Titabor, in the year 1994.


    Out of prominent adv breeding F4 lines, one important material was developed as Boro rice line. and full descriptor was prepared and submitted to the DR (Agri.), AAU, Jorhat-13.


    The new boro rice line was renamed as Joymati and recommended during 1997-98.
  • Developed 2 nos. of Boro rice vars., Swarnabh & Dinanath, from IRBON vs elite crosses under the Ph. D. Degree programme of myself (P K Deb Choudhury), Altogether, 40 nos. of crosses were developed in my Ph. D. research field at Dept. of Plant Breeding and Genetics, AAU, Jorhat, RARS, Shillongani and RARS, Titabor, under guide-ship of Dr. as approved


    & recommended in 2008.
  • Developed 7 nos. of Pre-Harvest Sprouting Tolerant Wheat advanced breeding lines, in 2016-17
  • Recommended Swarnabh & Dinanath by ICAR in Pre-Rabi DAC&FW-ICAR interface, in 2017
  • Completed hybridization between Black Rice & indica lines, 2018-19
  • 1. Presented the Proposal for Variety Identification of Rapeseed Toria strain ‘TS 38 developed by RARS, AAU, Shillongani in the 27th Annual Group Meet, AICRPRM, VIC, ICAR-DRMR on 03-04 August, 2020. VIC identified the strain 'TS 38' as a 'Variety' and accepted for onward submission of the Variety Proposal for Notification and Release for Zone V (Assam & the NEH). 2.

  • ICAR-DRMR sponsored project on "AICRP on Rapeseeds Mustard", project cost Rs.1.28 Crore implemented in 2018.
  • AAU sponsored project on "Development of high yielding Pre-Harvest Sprouting Tolerant (PHST) Lines of wheat", project cost Rs.10 Lakh implemented in 2008.
  • DBT sponsored project on "Development of high yielding, non-lodging and biotic resistant varieties of Black rice and Joha rice of Assam through Biotechnological intervention", project cost Rs.269.70 Lakh implemented in 2016.
  • ICAR sponsored project on "AICRP on Rapeseed and Mustard", project cost Rs.36469000 Lakh implemented in 2002.
