The department was initiated with an objective to produce expertise in the field of Agricultural Economics so as to contribute to the development of the farm sector in the fields of Agricultural marketing, agricultural finance and farm production. The passed out students are also expected to meet the requirements of the private sectors like banking, agricultural input industry, insurance and other services.
The department of Agricultural Economics and Farm management was started with the inception of the college in 1988. Regular UG courses were offered. The PG programme in the department leading to M.Sc. agri (Agril. Economics) was started in the academic year 2011-12 with two students. Since then 42 students are enrolled to the department. Out of 42 students, 31 students have completed their masters’ degree. Currently 10 students are on roll. One student however left the programme midway through her own volition. All the students who completed M.Sc. Agri (Agril. Economics) from the department are gainfully employed in various public and private sectors.
