The Department of Crop Physiology, Biswanath College of Agriculture has been involved in teaching of Undergraduate Core, Elective and Multidisciplinary Courses along with Post Graduate Minor, Supporting and  Compulsory Credit (CC) courses. The faculties of the Department are also associated with  teaching of some UG and PG courses offered by the other departments including Horticulture, Soil Science, Biochemistry and Agricultural Chemistry, Plant Breeding and Genetics, etc.

The Department has been preparing teaching aids and practical manuals regularly related to the concerned courses.

The Faculties of the Departments have been associated as PI and Co-PI in few Externally/ Internally funded ongoing/ completed Research Projects by DST, AYUSH, DBT, etc.

The Faculties are involved as Major Advisers and members of Advisory Committee of M.Sc.(Agri.)  and Ph. D Students of parent department and other departments offering minor and supporting courses in Crop Physiology.

The Department is associated with trainings of Farmers and Stakeholders related to Skill Development, Seed Quality Improvement and in other participatory extension activities along with various Institution building activities related to all round development of Assam Agricultural University.

    • Department of Biotechnology (NER Programme), Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India sponsored project on "DBT-NER Advance Level Institutional Biotech Hub at B N College of Agriculture, AAU, Biswanath, Assam (Phase-II)", project cost Rs.5784720 Lakh Objectives: 
      1. Analysis of mt DNA copy number and mitochondrial DNA polymerase gene expression analysis in rice and C. elegans.  
      2. Mitochondrial dynamics and expression analysis of genes involving mitochondrial fusion, fission and mitophagy.
      3. Analysis of stress response due to mitochondrial disruption. 
    • AYUSH, Govt. of India sponsored project on "Development, Standardization and Dissemination of Cultivation Package for Medicinal Plants of Commercial Importance in the Foot Hill Regions of Easter", project cost Rs.36 Lakh implemented in 2017.
    • NMPB, AYUSH sponsored project on "Establishment Field of Gene Bank and Micropropagation unit for the medicinal plant genetic resources of North East India", project cost Rs.38 Lakh implemented in 2017. (PI/Co-PI/Associated Scientist : Dr. Hemendra Choudhury)
