Achievements
  • After joining as SMS (Horticulture) at KVK, Karimganj on 7th Nov, 2008 and then transferred to KVK, Sonitpur on 8th March, 2011, I have been associated with the mandated activities of KVK viz., Training to the Practicing Farmers, Rural Youth and Extension Functionaries, conducted OFTs and FLDs. KVK is a group approach functionaries institution, thus we have to work in coordination and with immense effort to meet the mandated activities of the KVK.
  • Acted as Co-PI in FPARP Phase II Project on Water Management, Funded by Ministry of Water Resources, Govt. of India under AICRP on Water Management, AAU, Jorhat, at KVK, Karimganj
  • Station –In- Charge of NICRA Project of KVK, Sonitpur
  • As per resolution of DLIMC meeting on 29.05.09 a survey undertaken at Dhubri (Mancachar) for Cashewnut, Nagaon (Samaguri) for Assam Lemon and Titabor (Jalokonibari) for Black pepper and submitted a Project to the Deputy Commissioner, Karimganj for commercial production of the crops and setting up of processing units in Karimganj district during 2009-10 and 2010-11.
  • Establishing an infrastructure for a ‘Nursery’ with 2 no.s of poly houses and 2 no.s of Agro-shade net houses at KVK campus by a coordinated effort with DRDA, Karimganj under MGNREGA for an amount of 14 lakhs during 2010-11.
  • An Entrepreneurship developed in Horticultural Nursery by Mr. H. Topadar, Vill: Khola, Marzatkandi, Badarpur as an impact of training during 2010-11.
  • Success story of Md. Jalaluddin Munshi - Agricultural wage earner to a Progressive farmer in NICRA village of KVK, Sonitpur, Assam. The orchard of Mr. Munshi has inspired the other farmers in the NICRA village to take up cultivation of fruit crops as an income generating avenue.
  • Success story of Md. Sahidul Islam, a rural youth from village Korioni Bengali of Sonitpur district have been developed to a successful entrepreneur and was nominated for the Abhinav Kisan Puruskar award by KVK, Sonitpur during 2013-14.
  • Ananda Shankar Kalita of Monakhuli, Chotea, Sonitpur has been inspired and planted 12 bigha of banana. The farmers of Amolapam, Napam and Holmara have started banana plantation in scientific method.
  • Extension activities conducted: ***Organized 22 numbers of Awareness Programmes ***Conducted 37 numbers of Demonstrations in farmers’ field *** Conducted 53 (Fifty three) numbers of Trainings as Course Director (w.e.f. 07-11-08 to 31-03-13) for Farmers, Farm women, Rural youths and Extension Functionaries as Course Director. *** Conducted 110 (One hundred ten ) numbers of Lectures in Sponsored Training Programmes (w.e.f. 07-11-08 to till date) *** A total of 37 (Thirty seven) nos. of OFTs and FLDs have been conducted in farmers field for showcasing and dissemination of technologies from lab to land. *** Associated with 9 (Nine) nos. of field days *** Awareness programme organized - 22 (Twenty two ) nos. *** Significant Day Celebrated - 9 (Nine) nos. *** TV programmes (3 nos.) at DDK, Guwahati and TV programmes (2 nos.) at Prag News, Guwahati *** Radio talks delivered (15 nos.) at AIR, Tezpur and Nagaon
  • I joined as Junior Scientist (Horticulture) at RARS, AAU, Shillongani, Nagaon on April 01, 2015 and was engaged in research activities of vegetable crops. As the mandate crops of this station are pulses and oilseeds, so my field of work is related to innovation of climate resilient technologies incorporating vegetables with the mandate crops. Quality planting material generation programme started in the station to cater the need of the farming community.
  • The following technologies are in the pipeline for recommendation: 1) Intercropping of Lentil with vegetables (OFT completed) 2) Inter cropping of black gram with okra (Summer blackgram) (OFT completed) 3) Inter cropping of black gram with okra (Kharif blackgram) (OFT) 4) Cultivation of Ridge Gourd (Luffa acutangula L.) by using organic source of nutrients (OFT) 5) Performance of broccoli (Brassica oleracea L. var. oleracea) as influenced by organic inputs (MLT completed)
  • EU funded grant under AdaptNET programme (Erasmus+) to attend international training on Climate Resilient Agriculture (2020) Received the fellowship sponsored by “AdaptNet” programme of Erasmus+2020 and visited University of Milano and Polytechnic University of Marche, Italy; Agricultural University of Athens, Greece and ICRISAT, Hyderabad, India
  • Attended Goa Conference under AdaptNET programme (Erasmus+) from June 13 - 15, 2022 at Goa and presented a project proposal on Entrepreneurship development by cultivation of Moringa
