Achievements
  • I have been primarily engaged in teaching during my initial period of service till 1997 and have been regularly taking courses like Fundamentals of Horticulture, Ornamental Horticulture, Floriculture and Landscaping, Commercial Nursery Management, Post Harvest Management of Horticultural crops, Commercial Production of Fruits and Flowers ,Landscape Gardening, Fruit Production Including Plantation Crops etc. for various UG and PG courses.
  • During the course of above teaching period I have jointly prepared six practical manuals, two multimedia presentation modules and two teaching reviews (Compendium) on different courses on Horticulture for UG students.
  • Besides teaching I have been associated with some research programmes which included the Technology Mission sub activities 1.3. & 1.3.d (MMI), one adhoc project on Organic Farming and one Ad-hoc project entitled "Development, Standardization and dissemination of Technologies for Improving Productivity and Production of Bamboo and Bamboo Based Cropping System" funded by NBM. Govt. of India.
  • Myself being chiefly expertised in floriculture and Landscaping. I have been regularly visiting various organization within the state as expert member for development and beatification of campus landscapes. Thereby. I have developed a command in myself for establishment of Contemporary Landscape Designs.
  • Moreover I have also served as the member of campus development committee at BNCA. During the period a significant improvement in respect of the beautification of the campus have been made.
  • Published jointly two nos.of books namely "CULTURE OF CACTI AND SUCCULENTS" and "COMMERCIAL BAMBOO CULTIVATION and contributed one chapter on horticulture in an ACS guide book.
  • A total of 26 nos. of research papers have been published in various aspects of Horticulture in many reputed national journals. Apart from this a numbers of bulletins, leaflets and popular articles have also been published.
  • Participated as resource person in a number of training/ workshops/ demonstration etc. for transfer of technologies under various institutional and extra institutional organizations conducted at various places of Assam.
  • Actively involved in various institution building activities in various capacities like Prof-in-charge of Students' union, BNCA, Adviser to UG students, Members of various committees like Campus development committee, Orchard Management Committee, Children Park Development Committee, Organizing committees of Farmers' Day, Technology Mission Training Programmes, As PI of Bamboo Project, Lead Scientist, Technology Mission etc.
  • Jointly we have prepared a project on Bamboo for submission in the National Bamboo Mission, Govt. of India and subsequently the project was approved for implementation at B.N. college of Agriculture, Biswanath Chariali.
  • Selected by the Public Works Department, Govt. of Assam for contributing a chapter in the Schedule of Rates for the Department( 2004-2005) for the Landscaping items.
  • Actively involved in development of a number of landscape features such as fountain as hanging food bridge, garden lighting and many such elements in the AAU main campus Jorhat.
  • Own a multi-institutional project from DBT on Turmeric Mission entitled "Integrated Development of Turmeric Sector in North Eastern and Bundelkhand Regions through Sustainable Technological Interventions for Improvement of Productivity, Quality and Post Harvest Processing Technology under Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and Organic Production Systems" an acting as PI as well as Project Coordinator of the project.
  • Own a multi-institutional project from DBT entitled " Expansion of Biotech KISAN Hub Activities in Three Aspirational Districts (Udalguri, Goalpara & Dhubri) of Assam" an acting as a Co-PI of the project.
  • Successfully leading the project PFDC ( Precision Farming Development Centre) as PI since last 4 years and involved in development of 3 nos. of technology under the project
