  • Technology developed during the period of 2010-2020 1.Collection ,evaluation and maintenance of tuberose germplasm : Hybrid Shringar and Prajwal have been recommended for commercial cultivation of Assam :Included in Package of practices(2010-11) As -PI 2.Collection ,evaluation and maintenance of gladiolus germplasm : Variety Red Candiman,White Prosperity,Novalux,American Beauty,Red Sea,Suryakiran,Tiger Flame and Dhanawantry have been recommended for commercial cultivation in Assam .Included in Package of practices(2010-11) As -PI 3.Tuberose intercropping with vegetables : In commercial cultivation of tuberose ,certain vegetables like Peas,Spinach,Beet,Frenchbean can be grown for additional income :Included in Package of practices(2010-11) As -PI 4.Effect of holding solution on keeping quality of cut gerbera flower Cv.Red Monarch Tartaric acid 300 ppm alone and in combination with 2% sucrose solution or Aluminum Sulphate 300 ppm alone and in combination with 2% sucrose solution have been recommended as promising holding solution for extension of vase life of cut stalk of gerbera Cv.Red Monarch: Included in Package of practices(2010-11) As -PI 5.Management of sclerotial wilt (Sclerotium rolfsii) of tuberose : Dipping of bulbs in the solution of captan (0.3%) for 30 minutes before planting followed by soil drenching with captan (0.3%) @ 10 litre/m2 at monthly interval for three months Alternatively, pre-planting dipping of bulbs in the solution ( 10 g/l) of Trichoderma viride followed by soil application of T. viride @ 100 g/ m2 after mixing with FYM (1:10) at the time of planting: Included in Package of practices(2010-11) As - Co-PI 6.Management of leaf spot (Alternaria polyanthi) of tuberose: Spraying of chlorothalonil or Iprodione(25%) + carbendazim(25%) (Quintal) @ 0.2% (2 g/l) or carbendazim (0.1%) at 10 day interval.Included in Package of practices(2010-11) As - Co-PI 7.Management of leaf and flower blight (Alternaria dianthi) of marigold Low temperature coupled with cloudy weather and continuous dizzling for more thane 2 days have a significant role in the epidemiology of leaf and flower blight of African and French marigold caused by Alternaria dianthi.Necessary prophylactic measure should be adopted in anticipation of such weather conditions. Three sprays with Mancozeb (0.25%) at 10 days interval will manage the disease  Routing Spraying of Mancozeb (0.25%) at 30,40 and 50 days after transplanting will will effectively protect the African and French Marigold from the disease.   • 7.Effect of chemicals on weed control in gladiolus Application of Atrazin @ 1.5 kg a.i./ha and Metribuzin 0.25 kg a.i/ ha Have been recommended for controlling weeds in gladiolus.Included in Package of practices(2013-14) As - Co-PI 8.Effect of pulsing treatment on vase life of orchids, Dendrobium Var.Sonia : Either pulsing with NaOcl,1000 ppm or Al2 (S04)3 1000 ppm for 10 minutes then held them in 5 % Sucrose solution along with 300 ppm of Al2(S04)3 has recommended at holding solution before and after transit for extending the vase life of cut spike of Dendrobium, up to two weeks for economic vase(50% flowering) life at consumer's level.Included in AGM of AICRP(F)(2013-14) As - PI 9. Management of tuberose leaf blight (Alternaria polyanthi) : Spraying with Azoxystrobin (Amister) (0.1%) or Difenoconazole (Score) (0.1%) or Iprodione + carbendazim (Quintal) (0.1%) have been recommended for management of leaf spot disease of tuberose.Included in Package of practices(2013-14) As - Co-PI 10.Management of Leaf and flower blight (Alternaria dianthii) of marigold : Spraying with difenconazole (0.1%) or iprodion + carbendazim (0.2%) effectively control the severity of leaf and flower blight of marigold.Included in Package of practices(2013-14) As - Co-PI
  • 11.Micro nutrient studies in gerbera : Manganese Sulphate @ 0.8% may be sprayed thrice in a crop cycle, at 45, 60 and 75 days after planting for better crop growth, flower quality and yield in field grown gerberas.Included in Package of practices(2015-16) As - PI 12.Effect of holding solutions on keeping quality of cut anthurium stalk Cv.Eveta : Considering the cost effectiveness of the different chemicals, post harvest treatment on anthurium flower spathe either with 50 ppm of Sodium hypochlorite plus 5% sucrose or 300 ppm of aluminum sulphate plus 5% sucrose have been found promising for better standing of vase life at consumers level.Included in Package of practices(2015-16) As - PI 13.Testing of new genotype of tuberose ( Polianthes tuberosa) variety : Considering the Benefit Cost Ratio and time of flowering GK-TC-4, Phule Rajani and Hybrid Arka Nirantara (single type) were recommended for commercial cultivation in Assam for their other special features. Included in Package of practices(2015-16) As - PI 14.Effect of holding solutions on keeping quality of orchid spikes A holding solution containing 50% coconut water, 4% sucrose and 0.2%sodiumhypochlorite (NaOcl) significantly increased economic and total vase life in Dendrobium orchids . Included in AGM of AICRP(F)(2016-17) As - PI 15.Effect of bio-fertilizers on growth and flowering of Dendrobium orchids : A pot media enriched with basal application of Vermi compost (500g) plus Azospirillum, PSB, and VAM, 2 g each per pot may be recommended better plant growth and flower yield of Dendrobium orchids var. Morning Glory .Included in AGM of AICRP(F)(2017-18) As - PI
  • 16.Standardization of bio-fertilizer doses Bio-fertilizer source of Azospirillum and Phosphobacterium each of 2g per plant at two months interval along with a regular spray of NPK ( 20:10:10) @ 0.2% twice a week has been found promising for growth and flower production in Dendrobium Var. Sonia.Included in Package of practices(2018-19) As - PI 17.Collection and evaluation of under exploited ornamental viz., Heliconias (Heliconias sp.) Considering the market acceptability and gardeners choice Red Heliconias, shrimp heliconia (Heliconia pendula ) Bihai Yellow Dancer and Bihai Orange Dancer were recommended as cut flowers and border planting as shrubberies for commercial cultivation in Assam.Included in Package of practices(2018-19) As - PI 18.Evaluation of exotic gerbera under poly house condition:Considering the performances of various flower and sucker yield attributing characters the variety Renee, Sonata Tecta,Salvador, Shimmer, Pink Elegance & Destina have been recommended for growing under poly houses under Assam condition .Included in Package of practices(2018-19) As - PI 19.Standardization of post harvest treatment using boric acid and sodium benzoate for improving post harvest life of loose flowers of tuberose Boric acid 5 per cent has been recommended for enhancing shelf life of loose flower of tuberose beyond 48 hrs . Included in Package of practices(2018-19) As - PI 20.Use of food dyes for tinting in tuberose stems Tinting dip cut ends of tuberose spikes harvested at 2-3 buds open stage in the synthetic food dyes viz,. Respberry Red,Bright Blue and Orange Red @8% concentration for one hour for uniform tinting of petals.Included in Package of practices(2018-19) As - Co-PI 21.Standardization of Packaging of loose flowers of tuberose stems Spike harvested at well developed unopened bud stage can be wrapped in pp-100 gauge film and cold stored at 3-4 0C for 3 days for longer vase life.Included in Package of practices(2018-19) As - Co-PI 22.Packaging of loose flowers of tuberose stems For long distance transportation ,tuberose spikes are to be wrapped in PP-100 gauge packaging material before putting in CFB boxes.Included in Package of practices(2018-19) As - Co-PI
  • Brought the concept of inter cropping flowers with vegetables and now,it has been validated by the farmers throughout the country . With the intervention of the team AICRP(F) ,Kahikuchi ,we are able to motivated farmers towards flower diversification and growing high value crops under poly net houses.
